LS Cable & System signs a Preferred V 2014-10-21
■ Long-term supply contract with Norwegian engineering company
■ Will supply marine & offshore cables for offshore structures and drilling equipment

Anyang, Aug. 19, 2014 - LS Cable & System (www.lscable.com) announced on the 19th that it had signed a preferred vendor contract to supply marine & offshore cables with Aker Solutions (www.akersolutions.com). This is the first case whereby a leading global engineering company entered into a supply contract with a cable maker in Korea. With this contract, LS Cable & System anticipates more than $100 million in sales over the next seven years.

Founded in 1841, Aker Solutions has been a global provider of petroleum and gas plant engineering services in around 30 countries. The contents of this contract include a standardized price list for more than 500 power supply and control cables used in drilling and survey equipment as well as offshore structures.

LS Cable & System Vice President for the Communication & Industrial Business Group Jong-Won Kim said, “To reduce delivery times compared with our competitors, we suggested locating a product warehouse operation in Norway. Customized services such as these were a key consideration in our being selected as a product supplier.

”In 2009, LS Cable & System built a state-of-the-art production facility in Donghae City, Gangwon Province with an investment of about KRW 180 billion that included a comprehensive quality control system. It has since been producing the world’s top-level marine and offshore cables.

Marine & Offshore cables are required to work successfully even in especially harsh environments surrounded by seawater, mud, oil and ultraviolet rays. In addition, as the cables are installed in isolated offshore plants, the ability to withstand heat during a fire is also important. LS Cable & System’s products are rated to withstand temperatures up to 1000?C. Installed on emergency power, fire alarm, sprinkler and toxic gas ventilation systems, etc., LS Cable & System’s marine and offshore cables can transmit power and signals for more than three hours even amongst a fire.
